Stories about the people and places that we admire.

Among the Oaks Herb Farm

Located in the lush hills of Appalachian Kentucky, Among the Oaks is one acre of diversified herb plantings surrounded by meadow and forest. Our herbs are carefully tended using sustainable growing practices, harvested by hand, and then expertly dried in their on-site drying facility.

Herbs lose their aroma, flavor and potency when they are dried or stored improperly for long periods of time. The imported herbs you find in grocery store bulk bins are often grown on an incredibly large scale, using questionable labor practices, harvested mechanically, dried in full sun and stored in a warehouse for years. Not only can these practices be unethical and unsustainable, but they result in a low quality dried herb. The majority of herbal tea brands, even those blended locally, are made with these low quality herbs.

Amongst Oaks harvests responsibly and at peak quality, allowing quality and manages their cultivated land in a way that supports wildlife.

We carry all of their good stuff in the grocery-- it is really THAT good.

Weisenberger Mills

Weisenberger Mill has been "the bakers choice" since early 1865. Owned and operated for 6 generations by the Weisenberger family, the mill is nestled on banks of the South Elkhorn Creek, near Midway, in the heart of central Kentucky.

What a nice thing to get the grains you make for your bread just right on down the road. We especially love their mixes-- pancake, pizza dough, fish batter, muffins-- because they taste a divine and are so convenient for busy people who want to eat good foods.

You can find their tiny packets in our grocery or all across, Kentucky, along with huge bags of the most perfect grains for your own baked goods. Plus, Hannah uses their flour in her fresh goods for the Grocery.
